American and Australian Receptions of the Popular Comedy Clubland

American And Australian Receptions Of The Popular Comedy “Clubland”

Clubland was released into the world of cinema in 2007 and premiered at the prestigious Sundance movie festival. It is an Australian feature film. On the positive side the reviews in both American and Australia have been positive. Australian writer, Keith Thompson received glowing reviews for his well manipulated screen play which drove the film’s plot in a fluid and serene manner. The film was directed by Cherie Nowlan, who is responsible for showcasing Cate Blanchett in “Thank God He Met Lizzie.” A lot of movie critics have raved about this film being a realistic portrayal of Australian life and some have even ventured to calling “Clubland” a cinematic gem, in comparison to the other films that get released each year in Australia. I think what struck most movie goers and critics alike was a faithful depiction to the screen of Australian daily life and this directing approach to the film gave it the extra nuance to make it hit the world of cinema with a splash. It has become largely popular in the U.S. and Australia. Moreover, the film has reached large audiences internationally and in other regions of Europe as well.
